History and Geography


After extended skirmishes between the Colonial and the Marathas, on 17 Dec, 1779, the Maratha Govt allocated the aggregated income of Rs 12,000 in a few towns of this place to the Protuguese as settlement to make sure their relationship.

 The Colonial decided this place until its freedom by the people on 2 Aug, 1954. From 1954 until 1961, the place managed almost individually by what was known as "Free Dadra and Nagar Haveli Administration". However, the place was combined with the Native indian Partnership on 11 Aug, 1961, and since then, is being applied by the Govt of Native indian as a Partnership Territory. After freedom of the place from Colonial concept, a Varishtha Panchayat was working as an advisory body of the Management. 

This was demolished in Aug 1989, and a Pradesh Authorities for Dadra and Nagar Haveli Area Panchayat and 11 City Panchayats were constituted as per constitutional changes at All Native indian level. The U.T. of Dadra and Nagar Haveli has an place of 491 sq km, and it is enclosed by Gujarat and Maharashtra. It includes two pouches namely, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The closest train place is at Vapi, which is 18 km from Silvassa.

Agriculture

Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a primarily province with about 79 % group inhabitants. It has about 21,115 hectares under farming. Thereafter, three Govt Commercial Properties have been designed at Silvassa, Masat and Khadoli in the U.T. There are more than 1,600 S.S.I. models, such as Bungalow, City Sectors and 430 Method Scale/Large Range Sectors in Fabrics, Technological innovation, Plastic materials, Gadgets, Substances, Medication, etc., utilizing more than 43,100 individuals.

Irrigation and Power

Prior to freedom of the place, there was no watering service, and cultivators had to completely count on rain fall. After the merging of the place with the Native indian Partnership, sufficient actions were taken under minimal watering market.

Festivals

Normally, all celebrations of Hindus, Muslims and Christian believers are famous in the place, while tribals enjoy their own celebrations. Diwaso is famous by Dhodia and Varli communities, and Raksha Bandhan is famous by Dhodia group. Other celebrations consist of Bhawada amongst Varlist, Koli communities and Khali Puja by all communities after growing of plants and Gary Devi before growing of plants.


Tourism

Travel and leisure industry has been allocated high concern, according to the heavy woodlands area and beneficial environment. The popular locations of vacationer interest are Tadekeshwar Shiva Mandir, Bindrabin, Deer Recreation area at Khanvel, Vanganga Pond and Isle Lawn, Dadra, Vanvihar Udhyan Small Zoo, Bal Udhyan, Tribe Art gallery, and Hirvavan Lawn at Silvassa. To motivate tourism actions, some conventional and modern social actions like party of Tarpa Event, Kite festival, World Travel and leisure day, etc., are organized every year.
